Sheba sighed when she got back where she started. She had just taken a detour to the shrine and now found herself back, a short way before the laboratory. Well, at least she had managed to not get lost, even though her feet already hurt. " Are you alright?" the little Chimchar asked. " Yeah, I'm fine. Just not used to walking." Sheba smiled and sat down onto the ground for a minute. " Well. I think it's finally time I give you a name, right?" The Chimchar waited, patiently. " Uhm..." Sheba laughed nervously. " I'm actually really bad at naming Pokémon - I've always been, so please don't expect too much and feel free to yell at me." She thought about it. " Your final evolution is an Infernape, right? So maybe I should call you...Napey?" There was a second of silence. " You are bad at this", her little friend said, then sighed. " But if you insist..." " Yay!" Sheba laughed. " Napey it is, then!"

Happily, Sheba got up again. "Alright, shall we go to find the town, then? I'd hate to be here when the night comes." She sighed. "How did I end up in this mess...?"
"We'll get out of here!" Napey insisted. "Don't worry."
Sheba smiled sadly. She really liked her new friend, but she couldn't help but still wish she would just be home.
"Well, so, do you like fighting?" she asked when they started walking. "I never applied to be a trainer before because I'd hate it to see friends of mine get hurt, but I learned that some Pokémon actually like to fight at the laboratory."
"I never was in a fight before", Napey admitted. "But I promise I'll protect you! I'll be really happy to!"
"That's so nice of you!" Sheba beamed. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. A Pokémon she had just met and he was already so determined to help her. "I'm really happy to have you with me!"
"We'll be a good team, I hope!", Napey added.
"We'll be", Sheba nodded as they took a small path right into the forest.

As the new trainer and her Pokemon wandered through the forest, a bit of chattering started from above them. It seemed as though whatever was making the noise was up in the trees, complaining about something or another. Just which tree out of all the trees in the forest it resided, that was anyone's guess.

Sheba suddenly heard something and started to look around in panic. Where did these voices come from? Was someone going to attack them?! "D-do you hear that?" she whispered to her little new friend.
"Yeah. Wonder who that is..." The Pokémon didn't seem half as scared as his trainer.
"Uhm...do you think you could climb one of the trees and see if you can spot someone?" Her Pokémon looked like an ape, after all...
"Yeah, I think I can." Napey walked up to the nearest tree and started climbing.
"But come down if something seems dangerous!" Sheba called after him, already feeling pretty frightened by staying on the ground, alone.

"Ugh. Voices, voices, voices!" Someone or something wasn't all too pleased with the sudden lot of chattering that happened below it. It wasn't pleased, either, when the tree it perched in began to shake as the chimp Pokemon clambered up the tree.
"I don't enjoy being woken up from my nap in such a manner!" It said, still unseen by the eyes of the human and the Chimchar.

Napey climbed up as quickly as he could when he heard the voice growing louder. "I think someone is up here!" he called to Sheba.
"Oh dear, oh dear..." Sheba bit her bottom lip. "Please be careful!" she shouted from below. "If anything attacks you, come down! Fighting up there would probably be worse than fighting at the ground. Try to be friendly, first!"
"Alright..." Napey thought he could fight up here pretty well, but then again, his trainer couldn't really see him here either. "Hello?" he therefore called out. "Is someone here?"

And, of course, the voices continued on and on with their banter. Finally, the Pokemon was disturbed enough that it fluttered down to a branch near the fire Pokemon. At that point, it was obvious that the Pokemon was a Spearow. "Hello," it squawked back at Napey, sounding somewhat annoyed. "Are you the one responsible for all that racket? Some of us are trying to sleep around here, I'll have you know."

"Oh, hello!" Napey was quite surprised when the Spearow suddenly fluttered down. "Uh...we woke you up? I'm sorry about that, but you know, it's a forest, people sometimes just come through here..." Well, really, what could he say?
"Napey? What's going on there?" Sheba called from below.
"It's a Spearow and we woke it up!" Napey called back, hoping that all the yelling didn't disturb the unhappy, other Pokémon even more.
Sheba relaxed a bit. A Spearow wasn't all that scary after all. "Um, tell it we're sorry?"
"Already did that!" Napey shouted before turning to the other Pokémon again. "Well, we're just passing through, so it's not like we'll bother you for long, right?"

Unsuspecting to the Pokemon above, a short-fused Mankey had been disturbed by their loud bickering. He quickly descended upon Sheba with a large object tightly grasped in his hand which resembled an oddly colored pokeball. "You do know that other Pokemon are trying to sleep here, not just that annoying Spearow! For the last who knows how long person after person has trekked through here, stumbling through the forest like a bunch of lost little children. It eventually gets annoying and tiresome; I've had it with this!" At this point the furious Mankey threw the Net Ball at the side of the trainer's head and promptly fled into the brush.

Sheba could only stare at the Mankey and was about to apologize to calm the Pokémon down when she suddenly got attacked...with a Pokéball. Too surprised to even try to dodge, she suddenly found herself with a hurting head. "Ouch...I'm sorry...?" she called after the fleeing Pokémon nonetheless.
Then she picked up the Pokéball and scratched her head. The ball seemed to be in good condition. "Huh..." The Mankey obviously didn't expect it back, so she reluctantly put it into her satchel. What a strange world this was...
"Everything's alright down here", she called up to Napey in case her Pokémon was wondering what the commotion had been about.

As annoyed as the Spearow was, it seemed that the Mankey that they overheard below was even worse. The commotion there sparked that unhappy bird Pokemon's interest and, instead of replying to the Chimchar, it flew down from the tree and landed before the trainer. It stared at Sheba with narrowed eyes. "It seems you have disturbed more than one Pokemon today. I suppose that I can accept your apology, if you're willing to battle, that is." The Spearow suggested. The human girl was clearly Chimcar's trainer, since they were communicating back and forth. Did this Spearow want a trainer? Could be.

"Hey, come back here!" Napey raced down the tree to find the Sparow staring at his slightly scared looking trainer.
"Uhm...a battle...?" Sheba nervously played with the rim of her dress before she saw Napey joining her again. "Napey...would you battle for me? You don't have to if you don't want to..."
Napey sighed. His trainer was terribly indecisive and way to easily frightened for his taste. "Sure I would. Don't be a chicken now, we'll do fine", he told her.
Sheba took a deep breath. Okay, maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Napey wanted to fight, after all. "Alright, then we accept your challenge", she told the Spearow, trying to look at least somewhat sure of herself.

It listened to the Chimchar and the trainer banter back and forth, hoping they would come to a decision soon. Waiting too long would grow boring. "It is decided, then," the Spearow squawked, once they finally made their choice.
Wild Spearow Level 3
HP: 12 Attack: 4 Sp. Attack: 2 Defense: 4 Sp. Defense: 1 Speed: 4
Napey Level 5
HP: 16 Attack: 5 Sp. Attack: 5 Defense: 8 Sp. Defense: 6 Speed: 5
Attacks: Scratch - Hard, pointed, and sharp claws rake the foe to inflict damage. Leer - The foe is given an intimidating leer with sharp eyes. The target's Defense stat is reduced.
Napey may make the first move.

"O...okay..." Sheba took a deep breath. Her first battle! Well, Napey's first battle, but she had to give the orders. Hopefully, she wouldn't mess up. Then again, there only were two attacks to choose from anyway.
"Napey, use Scratch!" she ordered finally and her Pokémon, glad that his trainer had finally made a decision, moved in to attack.

As the opposing Pokemon rushed toward it, the Spearow attempted to jump backward and dodge, only it failed to do so and Napey's nails racked across its chest. It let out a squawk from the bit of pain, but it only served to inspire the bird Pokemon even more.
Spearow lost 3 HP!
The wild Spearow took to the sky, fluttering up just under the branches of the tree and dove down, flying in for a Peck attack.
Direct hit! Napey lost 1 HP!
