"Oh...oh my!" That looked like it had really hurt the poor bird Pokémon. Sheba could barely watch, especially when Napey got hurt as well. Luckily, it seemed to be only a light scratch. "Are you okay? Use...use Scratch again!" The faster this was over, the better.
Napey nodded, barely hurt, and charged at his opponent again.

Instead of trying to dodge, the Spearow ran at the Chimchar when it came toward him. It new well enough that it wouldn't be able to dodge, so what was the point? At the same time, it was able to power up its Peck.
Napey's attack hit the Spearow again, going over the same place where he had scratched the bird Pokemon just before. Instead of squawking, the Spearow only pressed forward without a noise or hint toward the pain in endured.
Spearow has lost 3 HP! Down to 6 HP.
It lunged toward the fire Pokemon, attempting to Peck at its shoulder.
Hit! Napey lost 1 HP!

Sheba saw, with a bit of relief, that Napey would probably win the battle when he only rubbed his shoulder where the Spearow had hit him. Still, she felt sorry for the other Pokémon, even though it almost seemed to enjoy getting beaten up quite a bit.
"Let's end this quickly! Napey, use Scratch again!" Hopefully, this would be over in two more hits. Napey just nodded and attacked again.

What neither Sheba or Napey knew was that the Spearow had already realized that it wouldn't win this fight, just after the first blows were exchanged. The Spearow wasn't strong enough, it wasn't a high enough level, and it it knew that. It knew that it had too great of a disadvantage. Then why, why did it continue to fight? It had too much honor not to. It didn't care if it became wounded, but it would fight with honor until it fainted.
The nails of the Chimchar racked across the Spearow, this time hit its wing since it had shuffled so that its chest would not be hit again. It winced in pain, but flapped both of its wings to shake it off.
Hit! Spearow lost 3 HP!
"You may be stronger and your win may be inevitable, but I am not giving up!" It said, its eyes narrowed at the chimp Pokemon. It rushed forward then, using its wings to fuel its speed. This time, its Peck attack was aimed for the center of Napey's forehead.
Critical hit! Napey lost 3 HP!

Napey fell back when he got hit quite badly this time. "Oww..." He rubbed his head.
"Napey!" Sheba was tempted to rush to her little friend, but stopped, unwilling to interrupt the battle after the Spearow had announced his words. "You are quite the brave one", she commented. "Napey, are you alright?"
"Yeah...I can still fight, don't worry." Napey shook his head to clear his dizzyness and took on a fighting stance again. "That was quite the hit!"
"Alright, let's end this now, then. Scratch again!" Sheba ordered and Napey moved in for the hopefully final hit.

The Spearow was pleased that it managed to do some significant damage to the Chimchar that time around, and even more pleased that the trainer seemed to acknowledge it more as a battler. However, by the time all was said and done, the wild Pokemon was panting. It knew that as soon as the next Scratch attack landed, it would be unable to battle. It could barely stand as it was.
Sheba ordered the attack, which was like a warning to the Spearow. It knew what was coming and it only jumped back as to minimize that damage to some degree, Napey's nails getting at its chest one more time.
Hit! Spearow lost 3 HP!
The Spearow stumbled back slightly, catching itself only by placing its wings against the ground as well. It was panting heavily and, finally, it went down.
Wild Spearow is unable to battle! Sheba wins!
Napey leveled up!

"You won! You won!" Sheba picked up Napey and hugged him. "You were amazing!"
"Haha, thanks!" Napey smiled at her when he was cuddled. "See, I told you, fighting isn't so bad. It really wasn't. I feel actually stronger!"
Sheba nodded, amazed, and put him down again before looking at the Spearow. "What...should we do with it now?" she asked.
"Maybe you should catch it?" Napey suggested.
"Do you think it would like that? I mean, it lived here in the forest all its life and it was angry it couldn't sleep. Doesn't really indicate that it wants to be captured, does it?"
"Well, you can still let it free if it doesn't like it, right?" Napey scratched his head.
"That's true. And I got an extra Pokéball from that Mankey, so it's not like it'll set us back much if I try." She opened her satchel and got out one of her normal Pokéballs. "Alright..." She felt bad chucking it at the fainted Pokémon, so she walked up to the Spearow and gently let the ball fall on its head. "Let's hope this works."

As soon as the Pokeball came in contact with the fainted Spearow, it opened up and surrounded the fallen Pokemon in a red light before the Pokemon vanished entirely inside the ball. It landed on the ground and began rocking back and forth, the button in the center flashing red. It wiggled back and forth several times, before it stopped and the flashing stopped as well.
Congratulations! Sheba caught a Spearow!

Sheba carefully picked up the Pokéball. "I think I caught it." She looked at the ball in her hand. "I hope we can become good friends, even though we started off with annoying it."
"Yeah, I hope so, too", Napey agreed. "Most Pokémon actually like getting trainers, so don't worry too much about not being liked, will you?"
Sheba laughed. "Yes, I know. I cared for Pokémon who were left behind or abandoned or just plainly not wanted at home." She sighed. Thinking of home made her sad, so she quickly pushed these thoughts away. "Well, let's let it out again!" She threw the Pokéball and the Spearow appeared, obviously still weak.
"Hey there." Sheba smiled at the bird Pokémon. "How are you feeling?"
"So you caught me, huh?" The Spearow nodded. "That's fine."
"Really?" Sheba sat onto the ground to be able to look at the Pokémon better. "If you don't want to come with us, that's okay, I'd let you go. But we'd love to have you."
The Spearow ruffled its feathers. "You're an odd one, you know. But I think I'd like it to get away from here a bit, so count me in."
Sheba smiled and Napey nodded. "That's awesome! I hope we get along fine", the fire Pokémon said. "I'm Napey...oh yeah, and she gave me that name, so you probably shouldn't expect much from her in that department."
"Hm." The Spearow nodded. "Well, if you haven't noticed, I'm a girl. But not one of these girly-girls. So give me a good name."
"Let's see..." Sheba thought about it. "You evolve into a Fearow, right?"
"Oh no, not that thinking again...", Napey mumbled.
"...So let's call you 'Feary'!" Sheba finished.
Napey sighed. "Told you so."
"Yeah, well..." The now-called Feary nodded. "Could be worse. Beats 'Napey', I guess."
"It totally does", the little Chimchar agreed.
"You're already getting along good, I see", Sheba laughed. "I'm sure traveling will be much easier now. For now, we should concentrate on finding that town Maevia told us about so we can get Feary to a Pokémon Center."
"Good idea." Feary nodded. "I don't feel that good."
"Do you want to rest a bit in the Pokéball then?" Sheba asked. "You did want to sleep, after all."
"Haha, that's true. I'm afraid I'm too weak to fly and look in which direction that town is right now", she admitted.
"That's fine, we'll find it eventually." Sheba got the Pokéball ready. "Ready?"
"Ready when you are."
Sheba called Feary back and put the Pokéball into her satchel. She'd have to buy a belt to put it on in the town. "Well, Napey, ready to move on?"
"Absolutely."
"Let's get going then." Sheba nodded. She was feeling quite a bit more confident now, with her first battle won and everything. And a new Pokémon, too! Not bad for her first day as a trainer.
And toegther with Napey, she moved on down the narrow path, deeper into the forest.
[Homg, long reply is long. o3o; I'm gonna make a new thread because I want to let out my awesome Bronzor and it would make no sense to have it suddenly appear out of nowhere here. Sorry for cluttering. D8]
