What a strange, confusing day this had turned out to be for this young man. As he tried his best to traverse this unfamiliar forest with a limp in his step, Ty tried desperately to recall just how he had gotten here. Last thing he remembered doing was coming back home from grocery shopping. And what ... now he was in a forest? What was going on here? Was there something he wasn't remembering? A Dream? While these thoughts raced through his pounding head, an icon of civilization came into his hazey view; A proud, sturdy structure stood out among the countless trees. It was a welcome sight for the weary trainer as he stopped with a breath of renewed hope. Being a distant man wasn't going to work here in ... well ... where ever he was. No time to be anti-social. So up to the door he hobbled tiredly and knocked twice before pushing the door open curiously. "Uh Hmm ... Hello?", he called out, voice gruff from his walking.

"Greetings," a feminine voice answered back to the call. Instead of a woman standing in the main entrance of the laboratory, there was a Gardevior wearing a lab coat, standing at one of the computers lining that walls of the room. She turned after pressing a few more buttons, changing the display screen in the process, and approached the man with a smile on her face. "Please, why don't you come in and have a seat? You look quite spent." She motioned him in with one of her hands.

Oh good, someone was here. Stepping inside the cool building, he glanced over to see a white figure standing at what appeared to be a computer monitor. He squinted but all he could make out through his blurry vision was the white lab coat the person was wearing. "Hello. Sorry for just walking in like this but I'm ... a little lost." A cough followed his words as he seated himself nearby. "Thank you. Yeah, I'm a bit tired; I wasn't expecting to have to walk so much today." His rough chuckle slowly downgraded into a tired moan as he rubbed his bad leg. The usual stiffness had been worked out of it from his unexpected walk. Man he was out of shape...
Gaze shifting up to the figure that was now beside him, shock flew onto his face. Expecting to see a woman, he was instead greeted by ... a Gardevoir? With a lab coat? Wait ... a lab coat... So he'd found a lab as it would seem. Hmm ... okay. He smiled a bit shyly. It wasn't what he expected, no, but it wasn't unusual to him. So if thier Pokemon was here, were was the Professor or whoever was incharge?
"Um..." He looked around curiously for this woman to whom the voice belonged. When he couldn't find trace of another person around, he looked to the Gardevoir suspiciously but still offered a smile. "Where's your trainer? The Professor? This is a lab right?"

Maevia could plainly see the shock and suspicion on the man's face. It was something she had grown very used to seeing, since so many people had never once heard a Pokemon speak before. She was definitely a unique case to most that walked into the laboratory, but she wouldn't remain such for long. Seeing that all Pokemon and humans could communicate in Trilotics, it was also one of her responsibilities to break the ice, to make sure that new trainers clearly understood that they could speak with Pokemon just as if they were speaking to another human.
"I am the professor," she explained, her warm smile never faltering, not even for an instance. Here, with her standing so close, it was impossible to deny the obvious, no matter how absurd it may have seemed. "My name is Maevia and, yes, I am a Pokemon. Regardless, I am the Pokemon Professor and this is my laboratory. Welcome."

When it struck home that it was the Gardevoir itself that he had been hearing all along, the young man nearly toppled over in his chair. It was clear from the look on his face that this concept frightened him. And who could blame him? Pokemon didn't talk! They just ... didn't! At least, not in his world they didn't! What did all this mean?!
"W-what?! N-n-no! You're a Pokemon! Pokemon can't talk! What's going on here?!" His once calm demeanor that he'd walked in here with was now replaced with panic and confusion. All his life never once had he heard a Pokemon talk. Why could this one? In one day he'd been thrown into some strange new place, lost and away from his home and Pokemon, and now there were talking Pokemon Professors?! This was a lot to take in! Sitting, looking spring-loaded and ready to bolt from his chair, Ty stared at Maevia wide-eyed with disbelief. He had to be dreaming ... right?

Maevia had to stifle a laugh. She had seen many different reactions to her ability to speak, but this young man's reaction nearly took the cake. However, laughing would have been impolite, so she delicately held her hand over her mouth rather than letting the giggle out.
"I'm sorry if I startled you," she apologized, once she had completely composed herself. She could tell that the man was almost terrified by this turn of events, but there wasn't much she could do to help him. She could talk, after all, and there was nothing she could do to help that. Besides, she enjoyed speaking.
"All Pokemon in this region are capable of speech, unless they are entirely mute," she explained, trying to keep her voice to a gentle manner. There was no need to scare him anymore than she already had. "It is strange, I must admit, but it is just how it is. It may seem far-fetched to you, but I rather like being able to communicate so easily."

At first, he thought her speech could only be possible because she was of the psychic variety, but as she went on to explain, that thought was firmly stopped out. He didn't like this, needless to say. Change was difficult for Ty. It had taken him months to adjust to such a slow life after his accident. This would probably be no different. Still confused and suspicous that this could all be some sort of trick or something, the young man started to chew his bottom lip out of frustration - a common quirk of his. "O-okay. So ... you're saying that all Pokemon can talk? How? I don't understand.", his words almost coming out in a growl. His anger shouldn't of been thrown at the poor Professor, but he was just so frustrated!
Still tense in his gestures, he looked at her for a moment before he decided to finally settle down a bit. Her calmness was almost infectious and he gladly decided to try and be civil and not flip out much more than he already had. His head was spinning with this odd idea. Pokemon could speak? Plain as day! Was it really true? Taking a deep breath and falling back against his chair, his gaze shot up to the ceiling. So tired he was... "Where am I..." A question that came out of more of a sigh than anything, it was all he could manage to say right now. One step at a time.

Maevia, too, felt the young man's anger. She wasn't angry, but she could sense these feelings among him, as could she sense it once he had composed himself, as well. In being such a Pokemon, a Gardevoir, she could occasionally sense the feelings of those around her. It usually was reserved for those she was close to, but she had been expanding on her talents from the time she had become the professor. She was getting better and better at sensing and making sense of the emotions of others. Too bad she hadn't had it this advanced from the start, even if she had a long way to go still.
"Very few of us understand," she explained. "But I am quite glad that I am able to speak and to be heard. You are now in the region known as Trilotics. This particular region is quite the wondrous place, if you give it the chance, but I can assure you that it isn't quite like any you may have seen before. There is a lot of magic that circulates in this world, for the Legendary Pokemon are more active here than in any place I have ever seen."

Yes, he supposed that Pokemon would be quite happy being able to be understood by humans... He hadn't thought of it like that... Maybe it made things a lot easier in this world. Suddenly he felt a bit embarrassed for acting as he had before. Looking to Maevia with an apologetic look, he rubbed the back of his head shyly. "I... I'm very sorry for acting so wild a while ago. It's just so much to take in." Though he seemed to have began to become somewhat accepting of the situation he'd found himself in, he still was naturally uneasy about how things would be now.
"But it's nice to meet you ... Maevia, was it? You can call me Ty." Luckily, not having much of a social life hadn't damaged his manners too badly. But he did hear something that he might like about this place... "Did you say there are Legendary Pokemon here? W-what kind?" In all his travels he'd never caught even a glimpse of one. This news did excite him and gave him new look at this region, if only a small one. It was a dream for many trainers, after all. "But h-how did they get here? In fact, how did I get here? Where is this Trilotics? Is it some new region that was recently discovered?" That had triggered an onslaught of questions.
And more importantly, how close was this place to home? Whether or not he did anything after this point, he would still need his loyal Pokemon team.

"Apology accepted, Ty," Maevia replied, her smile growing bright. "It is a lot to take in, I'm quite sure." She did much better than some of those that she had met in being a professor, but that was probably because she was Pokemon. They held a lot of respect for Legendary Pokemon, in most usual cases, and usually already had to consider the possibility of being taken from their home if they ever got captured by a trainer. Maybe humans didn't ever have to think in such a manner, but it was a thought that had to cross nearly every Pokemon's mind at least one in their lifetime. "It is a pleasure to meet you, as well."
"I believe that all of the known Legendary Pokemon are somewhere within this region, and possibly some that you have never met before. Recently, I've heard, that an Articuno has showed itself to ask a request of some trainers, though it may just be a rumor." She paused for a moment, thinking it over. Most rumors around Trilotics, though, held some truth. "As for how they got here, I cannot really say, but why couldn't they come here? Many Legendary Pokemon can fly or have powers of teleportation. Everyone else, however, can only arrive in Trilotics by a Legendary Pokemon bringing them here, other Pokemon included. This region is unheard of by all other regions because it is impossible to leave. Everyone that has ever tried has failed. Just outside of the region, we are surrounded completely by raging water and ever-lasting storms. No one has been able to return home once they have arrived here, I'm afraid, myself included."

Well, knowing of Legendaries wasn't the same as knowing about them. It was true that Ty knew what they looked like, but as for their abilities or any unique qualities they might possess, he was none the wiser. Why research something almost no one ever saw? It seemed like a wasted effort at the time. Besides, his focus leaned more towards his training and gym battles than anything. The interest was there yes, but it was a common interest many held and few persued. But never the less, he felt embarrased for his questioning of their abilities.
"That is true I suppose..." He was quiet for a bit, but quickly coughed to change the subject. "So Legendary Pokemon brought me here?" The thought both intrigued and pestered him a bit. Had he been warned, he mightn't have had too big a problem with it, but he couldn't recall any such notification. Then his attention held on to what she'd said last.
"W-wait. I can't leave?! But m-my team! My home! My life! They're all back in Hoenn waiting for me! I-I-I can't just leave it all behind!" Clearly, he was a little freaked out by this upsetting news. His team- no ... his family, since day one, were now out of his reach. It just couldn't be... He got a distant look in his eyes, disbelief. Was he really stuck here forever?

Maevia nodded her head. "Indeed. It is a strange and mysterious thing, isn't it?" It was a wonder why the Legendary Pokemon brought everyone and everything here. There were many cases where it had been for the better, cases where it helped people. Often times, those people didn't even realize it until much later. The Gardevoir, herself, found herself with a purpose that she would haven't dreamed of before she had come to the region. Like many others, she did have to leave her original home behind.
A frown came to her face, however, with Ty's distress. "You must understand, all of those that have come before you had to face the same situation, myself included." Of course she expected some to be upset with things, but she also believed that there was very little use in it. What was done was done. "I have heard that, in recent times, the legendary Pokemon would leave a note a week prior to bringing new people here." Did he not receive such a warning letter?

Strange and mysterious indeed. So everyone was brought here by the Legendary Pokemon ... even the Pokemon themselves. That would mean it was their whim to bring him here. Surely there was some reason. He couldn't think of one, but surely there was one right? It would be horrible to learn that they simply did it out of randomness. Then those other people they transported... He wondered how they felt about all this, if any of them liked this place and had become well adapted.
"A note?", he echoed after a moment. He'd recieved no note. Well, that he knew of. It wasn't often he got mail so he'd think he'd remember getting some sort of letter. Maybe it was a ... mistake? Did Legendary Pokemon make mistakes like that? "I don't recall any sort of note...", he replied finally, looking at the Professor with a confused look.
From the looks of things, he was stuck here for quite a while. Though, for now, he'd still cling to some hope of returning home. In exploring these lands, maybe he could find a way no others had yet to find! That sliver of hope inspired him so to travel again - a feeling he hadn't had in years. With spirits awakened again, he stood and looked to Maevia with determination. "Well, I thank you for telling me all of this, Professor Maevia." It still sounded odd to address this Pokemon in front of him as such, but it would become accustom here, he supposed. "I still have hope in returning home, but I think it would be ... a nice breath of fresh air if I were to travel this region first." The idea still made him uneasy, especially without a team by his side, but it seemed to be the best course of action he could take.

The Gardevoir frowned at Ty's mention of not recieving a note. How very strange, indeed. She had heard that it had been a common thing now and, with it not occurring, she couldn't help but be both curious and concerned. There was much to still unravel about the motives of the legendary Pokemon.
Quickly, however, with the trainer's change of heart, her frown changed to a smile. "That's the spirit!" She nodded her head firmly. "I couldn't possibly expect you to go out alone, though, so I would like you to choose one of our available starter Pokemon to take with you. One is issued to every new trainer that stumbles into my laboratory. This way," she said, waving her hand toward a curious-looking machine. With a few clicks, a list of Pokemon was displayed on the computer's monitor. "Choose any one of them, and this machine will dispense a Pokemon in the species that you choose."

At mention of starter Pokemon, feelings of both excitement and sadness flooded him. He had only choosen a partner once and that was his Charizard back home. That Pokemon had been by his side since day one and could never be replaced. The rest of his team was important, yes, but there was a special place in his heart for that first Pokemon. It was the same for many trainers, he'd think. He felt as though picking another partner here would be as if replacing him... But he knew a partner would be needed to travel this world, especially since this place was just so new to him. There was no telling what kind of Pokemon were out there! He would just have to not think of it in that light, but instead as a new opportunity to gain another member to the team. Yeah ... that made him feel better about his decision.
So swallowing the sadness, he followed the Professor to the odd machine and stared at the monitor. Watching as she pushed a few buttons which seemed to bring up a most interesting list of Pokemon, he stepped forward curiously. Almost immediately a Charmander came to his attention... and he quickly scanned over it with an uneasy feeling. However, the next and only other Pokemon that seemed to catch his interest was Cyndaquil. He had seen only a few in his travels, never wild, and each time they made his fondness of them grow.
He quickly pointed to it in confirmation and smiled. "The Cyndaquil definitely, please." He couldn't pass up the chance to train one. This opportunity made him feel much easier about this place.
