The book is nothing special. It is roughly hand-bound, pages meticulously tied with woven cord. The edges of leaf-thin paper are rough with the wobbly traces of cuts that, while trying for precise, bear the unerring marks of human error. It is a lumpy tome, swollen a bit too much around the spine in ways that make the leather covering ripple around the pages.
Nonetheless, it is sewn carefully and with love. The colorful binding is sturdy and well-kept. The embroidery on the cover - while clumsy - is clearly done with dedication. The symbols printed in thread there show that this is a prized and precious first journal. It is kept safe in the bag of an young but someday-intrepid adventurer; and it's secrets are kept safe deep within pages bookmarked by a glossy Premiere Ball charm.
