"Soybean?" called Dana. She had foolishly thought for a moment that she had just lost hold of his leash, but as she looked closer, she could see the fog lifting, and this was not the place behind her house. So...had the warning come true? She had been swept away, to another place, with nothing familiar by her side.
Part of her wanted to cry out, to scream, to race into the woods, but she forced herself to calm down. That wouldn't help, it wouldn't, no matter what she thought. Now, she saw, there appeared to be a building. Thank goodness, she could call her parents.
She walked up to the door and knocked, hoping the sound would carry. The thought that this building might be home to a serial killer raced through her head, and she backed away slightly, poised to run.

Before she had the chance to run away, the door was opened by a smiling Gardevoir. Aside from the knocking, Maevia had already known that someone was coming, much thanks to her psychic abilities. What was strange, was that she felt that the girl was even more frightened than she had ever expected any of the humans to be. Why was that? She felt... different. Even so, she greeted her with a warm, kind voice, "Hello. You look a little lost. Do you need any help?" She offered, at least not sounding like a serial killer, though a talking creature must have been very strange for Dana, given that she wasn't even from the world of Pokemon. If only Maevia knew this.

Dana jumped at the creature that stepped out the door. For a moment, she thought it might be a woman in a strange sort of costume, but a closer look told her that no earthly woman had that sort of figure. Furthermore, that was no dress, definitely part of the creature's body...a thousand things were wrong with the figure, yet it still had enough of a semblance to humankind to make her shudder slightly. And it could talk.
"What's going on?" she asked, her eyes still wide in fear. "Where am I? Are you a sorceress of some sort?" At that last question, she blushed slightly. At her age, and still believing in magic? But then again, nothing but magic could have brought her here in the first place...

It was obvious to the Gardevoir that this human was quite fearful of her or, perhaps, the entire situation that she had found herself in, and she had to wonder why. This particular guest looked more afraid than any other humans that had wandered in, at least as of late.
"A sorceress? Goodness, no. Though I suppose a psychic Pokemon would be the closest thing to a human sorceress..." she trailed off for just a moment, before smiling. "My name is Maevia, I'm a professor, and this is my laboratory," she said, gesturing all around her. "Might I ask your name or, at least, offer you some help? You appear to be dreadfully lost." Maevia was awfully kind hearted, to the point where it showed quite easily. She wasn't the sort that gave off an air that made others fear her. If anything, she seemed like someone that could be trusted.

Dana only stared further. "Po-kee-mon?" she asked slowly. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but I really have no idea what you're talking about. My name is Dana, and I just appeared here out of nowhere..." She thought she was being surprisingly calm, considering that she had just been thrown into a whole new place.
"Do you have a phone or anything that I can use to call my parents?" she asked hopefully. "After all, they must be awfully worried, if they see Soybean-that's my dog-running home all by himself."

A frown appeared on Maevia's face. She had never before heard of a human that had no idea what a Pokemon was. Just what were the legendaries up to now? If it really was them that caused everything to appear out of thin air, stealing everything from its original place, then just what were they planning to do?
"We have a video phone, but you wont be able to reach them from here. Our network only spans this region, which is its own continent and small network of islands. You're also not the first one to appear in such a manner." The Gardevoir explained, but then her mind traveled to another subject, "And you... named your... dog... Well, what kind of a dog is it? Growlithe, Houndour, or maybe a Poochyena?" She asked this, hoping that it would dawn on Dana what she was talking about. Perhaps the unusual way of travel scrambled her memories?

Dana only seemed more confused by what Maevia said. "I...I don't know any of those breeds," she said. "He was a mixed-breed, with some terrier and hunting dog in him, maybe." There was a pause as she stood there, thinking some more.
"Can I come in?" she asked at last. "I'd like to sit down."

"Breeds?" Maevia repeated, fighting her expression from changing into something more unpleasant than her usual smile. "I have no idea what you mean when you say... a terrier or a hunting dog, but you're welcome to come in, yes." The psychic Pokemon stepped out of the doorway and back into the lab.
"I don't have many guests, nor do I have much in the laboratory areas of the place. You may sit there, though, if you like," she said, gesturing toward a rather large rolling chair. "I can see that it may take more time to get you situated. Would you like some water or perhaps some lemonade? We may have coffee, but I'm not entirely sure. " Sparky was a good bit addicted to coffee now, much to the poor Pokemon's dismay. He could finally sleep, but now he was hooked on coffee to the point where he couldn't always sleep when he wanted to.

"Well...some lemonade would be fine," said Dana, sitting down. She was still so very confused by all this. Maybe it would be good for her to learn a bit more about those various breeds described.
"Can you show me some pictures of those dog breeds you described? Growlite, Houndour, and Poochyena?" she added. "Maybe I'll be able to give you a better answer if I have a better idea of the question." She also wondered what this laboratory researched-she'd ask that later.

"Lemonade it is, then," Maevia replied, stepping into a doorway on the right of the room they were currently in. That must have been the kitchen area, because there was an opening and closing of a refrigerator door as she poured a glass of lemonade for Dana. While she was there, she could still hear and responded to her guest, "I could show you pictures, yes." She then appeared again shortly, offering a fairly large glass of lemonade to Dana, tiny umbrella decor and all. "Here you are, my dear." Just then, another creature joined them by pushing its way through the front door. To Dana, it would look like a slim-built, muscular dog that stood over four feet tall, nearly five. The horns and the forked tail were quite frightening, at least to anyone that had never seen such a creature before. It could have almost been described as a hell hound. However, it held a letter in its teeth, which it promptly took over to Maevia without giving the human a second glance.

Dana took the lemonade with a smile, and sipped slightly. However, she jumped and nearly spat out her drink upon seeing the creature. It appeared at first sight to be a dog, but...why the horns and tail? Had it been altered somehow to look devillike? She was about to denounce it, but upon looking closer, the horns seemed definitely to grow out of the head, and the tail was too thin anyways...
"Is-is that a Poochyena, Growlithe, or Houndour?" she asked. She didn't sound too frightened, though, probably because she had noticed the creature was tame by the time she noticed it wasn't a species of dog like she was used to.

When the canine-like Pokemon appeared and delivered the letter, Maevia's expression was quite delighted. "It is good to see you again, Alucard," she said as she took the letter gently from between its teeth.
"As it is to see you," the second Pokemon replied to Maevia, something that probably very much surprised Dana. He looked back at the human as she asked about what kind of Pokemon he was. "I am none of those," he said, tail flicking. "I am a Houndoom. My previous form was a Houndour, before I evolved. Shouldn't you know that?" Most humans knew a fair bit about Pokemon, anyway, but he supposed that new trainers weren't nearly as wise.
"She claims that she doesn't know what a Pokemon is," the Gardevoir interjected, her eyes going from the Houndoom back to Dana. "I don't think... She's from our world..."

Now Dana really jumped when the Houndoom spoke. She had been somewhat okay with Maevia speaking, seeing as how she was mostly human-looking, but to see something obviously canine open its mouth and speak as casually as anything...shocking.
"You-you can talk? But you're just a canine..." She paused, then realized that she might sound insulting. "I mean, there's nothing wrong with that! It's just that I'm not used to creatures like you being able to talk...or talk so that I can understand them." There was another pause. "What do you mean, 'evolved'?"

Alucard tilted his head as he looked at Dana, actually finding what she said to be rather insulting, but accepting her apology. She was an interesting human, if nothing else. He did catch what Maevia said, and it had him wondering just how such a thing as a human coming from another world had happened. "Yes, I can speak, as can all of the Pokemon here, except those that are entirely mute," the Houndoom spoke, still flicking his tail. "I take it you haven't seen Sparky around then..." His last sentence was spoken mostly to himself.
"All Pokemon evolve," Maevia said, jumping right on in, since Alucard didn't seem like he was going to answer the human's question right away. "At least most of us do. A Pokemon starts out its life in one stage and, as it grows stronger, usually through battles or training, it may evolve. It takes on another form, showing that it has grown stronger. Alucard here started as a Houndour, while I started as a Pokemon known as a Ralts."

Dana nodded. "Alright, I see," she said. She supposed she shouldn't be too surprised-animals in her world grew into new forms as well. But most of the time they didn't have different names...
"So...do you have any idea how I can get home?" she asked slowly, still sipping at her lemonade. "Or at least get some sort of message to my parents?"
