As I am sure you all are able to see, I am currently working on a sidebar for our forums. This currently includes some of the most useful links, added to make it a little easier on new members or potential members to navigate the critical areas of the site. I have also added on a chatbox to this sidebar. Now, this chatbox is supposedly ad-ran, and it claims that pop-up ads may occasionally appear after so many page loads because of it being on the site. Right now, it is only here for a test run and I would appreciate feedback specifically on it, especially if anyone has any trouble with it or any ads. Prior to the sidebar, I also added a section for affiliates way down below the forums, which includes our handy mini banner so that anyone can advertise the forums. If anyone would like to have the code for our somewhat larger banner [since that mini one is so dang tiny DX], you may ask for that here, as well. It looks like this: I would love to hear everyone's opinions on the addition of the sidebar, itself, the chatbox, the affiliate section, and if anyone thinks I should add any other specific links to the first section in the sidebar. In addition, does anyone have any suggests for what to include in that lovely middle sidebar box of ours? Rather than deciding for everyone, I would like to know what our members feel that we need.

New stuff is awesome! But can't we put it on top or anything? I must admit, after checking some of the RP threads, the new slim-ness of the threads is a bit of sore to the eyes and makes it - for me - harder to read and the off-center-ness (I'm not good with my English after I just got up...) of it all is kinda unpleasant for me, too. I really like the new shortcut links - in fact, I love the one to the profile section since that is essentially where I need to get my sprites from every time I make a new thread - but I'd rather have that above or below, like the affiliates. I'd prefer more scrolling any day, but I don't know if that's possible? DX It all looks cramped like it is now. Can't really say anything about the chatbox specifically. I eye it. xD Have never used one of these things before and am not really a chatbox person. But if that's what will prevent adding the shortcut links to the top because it needs to be in a sidebar...I'm not happy with it? xD I dunno.

I originally chose to put everything in a sidebar becuse, for me, the forums are huge, and it makes roleplays look pretty silly at times. My laptop is a wide screen and, as of right now, I do not personally have a regular computer to access in order to view it in any other setting. I suppose that I must have forgotten that I have a wide screen, since I am used to it and never purchased this laptop because of that feature. Perhaps, if you could, could you provide a screen shot of what it looks like for you?
They reason I chose to, specifically, not put it at the top was because of the news fader that we use and I felt that it wouldn't be as functional as a sidebar. However, that's where all these opinions come in. If members more commonly feel that it would be best at the top, then I may find a way to implement it.
I could add a sidebar to the left side as well, so that it re-centered the forums, but that may make it too squished. I may also be able to re-size the sidebar and chatbox, though it won't be too much, it may make a difference.
I would certainly love some move feed back, if anyone has the time!

One screenshot, coming right up: LinkAnd yeah, it's already super-squished, another sidebar to the left would make this hellish. Maybe I'm just a fan of wide forums or too used to Evelon or something...

Hm, that does appear to be quite squished. =/; Curse my lack of a regular computer. With this wide screen, the forums aren't all that smaller than those on Evelon and, to me, it looks much better as it is.
I'll try making the sidebar less wide and see if that helps to any degree.

I noticed you did, but it's still squished for me. The difference is close to none, in fact, I have the feeling the black space between the sidebar and the edge of the screen has grown more than the thread size has, haha.

How very frustrating this code is to alter. After work, I will try to look into getting something for the top of the forums rather than the side of it. While placing it on the side formats it all better for me, I cannot stand the thought of it causing anyone else any trouble. I don't like the forums being squished for our members. DX

Sounds good! I tried looking at the site with different screen resolutions and all, but that didn't help. IE also doesn't display it any better either. Sorry for complaining! DX Also, I just had an ad appearing. It was small and appeared right in the middle of the screen over the forum, but it was thank goodness also none of these ads which scroll down when you scroll down. It was just there. But I also found no close-button. But I also didn't look very hard, so yeah...I know sites with much worse ads. I'm not a fan of them at all, but that's something I can live with if they stay so small. Just my report.

At this point in time, I am still hoping for more feedback on everything.
I have yet to change the sidebar in hopes of getting more input on a "Yay" or "Nay" for it.

I can't think of how to better any of 'em. They all look A-OK to me! :3
