"Our world has always been this way, Sofia. Though it may be difficult for you to understand and may seem strange because of the normalcy in your world, everything we do is completely normal to all of us." Nyla was the voice of reason, once more.
Yet, Vexsis very much disliked all of the shouting. His words were not much, because verbal conflict was the last thing he truly wanted now. "Even guards must fight in order to practice and sharpen their skills, and they usually do so with other guards. Without practice, they would eventually fail. Just think of it like that."
Kage had already made it clear that they were helping Sofia. He hadn't a problem with this, and he was certainly still protect her, but he had the feeling that all of her disagreements would be problematic. It would be especially with her speak of Maevia, when he had never met a single person who disliked her until now.
The man cleared his throat. "I think this is enough, out of everyone," he said, looking between all of the three. "Sofia, we need to get moving before it gets too late. I doubt you want to travel in the middle of the night, so we will need to make some progress. Rather or not you want to be, you are, and that's that, so there isn't any use in dwelling on it right now."

Sofia sighed. This was so bothersome! "Why was I abducted by these evil gods? I'm a refined lady! I don't belong into such a world?" she complained. It felt like it was the only thing she could do right now, after all. She knew it wouldn't change things, but...
"Well, I guess that makes sense", Sofia admitted in Vexsis' direction. "But you seem to enjoy it! That is what bothers me so!"
"Very well!" Sofia definitely agreed with Kage. Sitting around wouldn't get her home. "I have no intention of being stuck in a forest at night indeed! We need to reach town so we can find a place to sleep." She stood up. "Well, where is your carriage?" She looked around, opening her parasol. "I can't wait to see what Pokémon will draw it! Surely they will look like well-bred horses?"

Kage flinched slightly when Sofia spoke ill of the Legendary Pokemon, but decided against making any further comment. It seemed like the entire trio was on the same page there, knowing that they couldn't curb her complaints. For the time being, they decided not to speak any more of it, unless it got out of hand.
Vexsis only shook his head, the best he could without falling off of the trainer's shoulder. Of course he enjoyed it. Most guards were guards because they enjoyed it, same with warriors. There was no point in doing something if you didn't somehow enjoy it. In his case, he enjoyed the skills and tactics, working alongside his trainer, and the adrenaline.
Sofia's expectation almost baffled the two males of the party. Oh, she was going to be a handful all right. "My dear, most people in our world, well, they walk," Nyla explained. "Or they ride Pokemon, but I'm the closest thing to a mount that Kage has and I'm only helpful in the water."
"Relying on your own power is quite exhilarating," the trainer added, fishing out the two Pokeballs that belonged to Nyla and Vexsis. With Nyla being unable to travel on land and Vexsis probably needing some time to himself, Kage would be dealing with Sofia on his own during most of their forest travel.

"Walk?!" Sofia stared. "But I'm a lady! I don't walk! I never walk! My feet could get hurt! My shoes could be damaged badly!" They could not really mean that, right? Making her walk?
"Well, I suppose if the town is only around the corner, I will be able to cope." Sofia sighed. There was no choice, after all. "I should manage to walk for ten minutes. We can rent a carriage in the town then, I hope. As soon as I figured out how to get home, my father will surely pay you back all money you had to spend on caring for me."
She watched the Pokéballs with interest. Would Kage now get Nyla and Vexsis back into there? How would that work?

Kage only shook his head, setting Sofia's words aside for a time.
"Since we need to get moving, you'll both need to return and get some rest." He first held one of the Pokeballs up toward the Gligar perched on his shoulder. "Thank you, Vexsis, please return." As he spoke, the clicked the button on the center of the Pokeball and a red light shot out of it, surrounding him, and beaming him back into the ball, similar to how they had appeared. Vexsis was completely gone, as if he had never been there in the first place.
Nyla nodded her head in Kage's direction, after glancing at Sofia. She had a feeling that the girl would learn to cope with it all, after some time.
Kage repeated the process, only holding the ball toward the Milotic this time. "Thank you, Nyla, please return." A beam of light, appearing just the same from Vexsis' Pokeball, shot out, surrounding Nyla and sending her back into the Pokeball. The size difference didn't matter at all.
Both Pokeballs were promptly stored back where they belonged, and his gaze returned to Sofia. "It might be a longer walk than that, but I've navigated it often enough that it will be a shorter journey than what most have. I apologize if your shoes get ruined, but it may happen." Everyone walked everywhere, that was just how it was, and that certainly wasn't about to change for one person. He eyed the sky breifly, through the mass of trees.
"We'd better get going." And, with that, he started walking.

Sofia watched with interest how the Pokémon disappeared. She remembered what they had told her about the Pokéballs before and assumed they were both fine and rather comfortable, but it still seemed so very odd. "I would not want to be stuck in a ball", she mumbled.
"T-they might get ruined?!" Sofia quickly hurried to catch up with Kage when the man started walking. "But they were expensive and they are the only pair that matches this dress perfectly! This can't be right! These gods didn't even give me any money! How am I supposed to buy more pairs when this one gets damaged!" Really, leaving someone with no money in a foreign world. What nasty creatures these gods were!
Sofia had no choice than to keep up with Kage for now. She had never had to walk like this before - she was a lady, she didn't walk. She strolled. This was not something she was used to. Hopefully, the town was really close. She doubted she could keep this up for long.

"Think of it like your own private paradise," Kage responded. Apparently, he had rather good hearing if he could make sense out of Sofia's mumbles.
The young man, noticing that Sofia was probably going to have a difficult time keeping up with him, slowed his pace just slightly. "Maevia, the professor you upset, was charged with the task of helping everyone who came here. It was a request made by the Legenday Pokemon of this world that a laboratory was created in order to help all newcomers. Normally, she gives out a Pokemon, money and various other items to new trainers so that aren't left with nothing," Kage explained, not even bothering to get on the subject of how very little it mattered here if shoes matched one's outfit perfectly. It wasn't worth the breath.
"By the way, you're the only person I have ever heard of that the Professor has turned down. You really must have upset her, for she's normally a very nice woman. I suppose you're a bit lucky that Nyla, Vexsis and I showed up. You'd probably still be sitting on the rock." Or who knows. Maybe she would have swallowed her swelled up pride and went back to Maevia.

Sofia blinked, a bit surprised that Kage had heard her. "I prefer my huge mansion as my personal paradise, though. No matter how nice it might be inside, it's still a little ball."
Sofia listened to what Kage said about Maevia and how her talk with the professor had went. "I suppose I did upset her, though it was mutual", she finally said. "She felt insulted because I - very rightly so - called her oh-so-wonderful gods 'criminals'. Which is what they are, for they abduct people against their will! That is clearly evil and disgusting! I really wish I could speak to them and give them a piece of my mind!" She wrinkled her nose in disgust before sighing. "But yes, I clearly got lucky. Being alone in this forest was scary."

"Oh, clearly they're evil because of what they do." Kage shook his head. "Because of them, I have a chance to start again, which is a good thing. Some of the legendary Pokemon have brought people here who were on the brink of death, saving them in the process. When you don't know all of the sides to the whole story, it is advised not to be so judgmental. You offended Maevia, because she knows more about them than you do, but you automatically assumed that you knew all about them, just like you're doing now. She has met almost everyone that has ended up here, so she has a good idea about what good they have done."
"By the way, the legendary Pokemon are often listening, especially when they are being spoken about, so I'm sure they hear you now. They try help and protect everyone that they bring here. If you visit their shrines, in fact, they grant wishes, though nothing too extreme."
Kage stopped then, to pull back a tree branch that blocked their path, so as to allow Sofia to go by without any extra trouble. "After you, my lady."

Sofia held her nose up a bit higher. "They're evil! You are right that maybe some people might be happy to end up here, but I only know that a few hours ago, I was leading a very happy life with my family and was abducted! I was not asked! Now, if these creatures would ask first if someone wants to be taken away, the matter would be different, but to do it against the will of a person is horrible! Who will they abduct next? A mother of five children, leaving her babies alone? A man two days before his wedding? You might be happy about your fate, but others are not. And if Maevia expects that everyone who ends up here is happy about their fate, then she has the wrong job!" Sofia's voice had grown louder, but not just because she was raging and because complaining was all she could do, but also because she was desperately trying to not start crying again. She loved her family. She had talked with her sister about what they wanted to do next week together and she had promised to accompany her father to his next ball. What would become of this now? Of her life, of her, of her family? Did no one in this world understand how just stealing people was a crime? How much happiness was destroyed by that?
Sofia sniffed as silently as she could and rubbed her eyes once after tilting her parasol a bit so that her movement was harder to see. "I shall visit this shrine then, if just to make them listen more." And maybe to wish to go home. But she was too proud to just ask her kidnappers for that...
She took deep breaths, trying to regain her composure. When Kage held the twig back for her, she curtsied and passed by it. "Thank you."

"They wouldn't bring someone here if they weren't fit to go," he countered. "They would never take someone away that needed to stay where they were. I'm sure your not a mother, nor were you about to get married. Who knows, they may have brought you here to open up your close minded views, to show you a life away from your sheltered ways and riches. You look like you could use an adventure," he mused. "Maevia at least expects some common courtesy. You entered her home and she was willing to help you out of her own good heart, but don't show her courtesy, than I suppose your outcome is what happens." He shrugged, continuing to walk still as he spoke.
"Either way, I should advise you not to go around speaking ill of the legendaries in front of other people. The people in the nearest town believe greatly in legendaries and their magic. It is a part of their culture, as it is for all of Trilotics."

Sofia stopped dead in her tracks, watching Kage's back as he walked past her. "That...that is exactly what that woman had said, too!" she screeched at him. "To 'open up my close minded views'! What is wrong with this world?! Why is everyone here so stupid in the head?! Creatures attacking each other for fun! Gods abducting people for their own selfish reasons! People who actually like getting abducted! This is...this is so messed up!" She gripped her parasol tightly, simply to hold on to something. She was crying now; half out of rage and half out of desperation. "Is having money a crime?! Do I deserve to be abducted because my clothes are made of silk?! Does my father, who raised me and my sister alone after my mother's death, deserve to lose a daughter all of sudden because he is living in a mansion!? Does my sister deserve to worry about the one she watched out for all her life because she can afford the more expensive food?! I don't know what's wrong with you or Maevia or your gods, but if you believe this just, you are all heartless! Absolutely heartless!"
Sofia started to walk again, though slowly. She felt like her legs would stop carrying her weight any minute. This was all...just a bad dream. "Well, I certainly believe in your gods, too. They made their presence and power fully known, after all", she scoffed. "I will not, however, keep my mouth shut just to appease the followers of the criminals."

Kage stopped as soon as the insults came, his body stiffened and he didn't turn to face her just yet. He swallowed hard, waiting for her screaming to be done. "I do not take kindly to direct insults, Sofia. I merely suggest what their reasoning may be, so I don't appreciate being insulted by a young woman lost, defenseless and penniless in a strange world who I'm helping despite my loyalty to the gods that she so dares insult over and over again." His voice, strangely, was well controlled, but there was enough emphasis to know that he meant business.
He turned on his heels then, his eyes narrowed. "If I'm so utterly heartless, than why am I going out of my way to help you? I was on my way to the laboratory, I needed to discuss something with the professor, regarding something odd that was recently discovered. Yet, I found you instead, and here we are."
At the moment, he didn't seem all that inclined to continue on. "I can respect that you don't like this situation, but you should at least respect the people here trying to help you." Of course, that was exactly what he meant when referring to opening her closed mind. Was it supposed to be normal for a person insult something trying to help them? It seemed utterly rude, in his opinion. "Do you really think its polite to insult someone trying to help you?" It was a genuine question. "No one deserves to be insulted for trying to be helpful, regardless of how you feel."

Sofia was getting told and that for the second time in maybe two hours. As someone who had never experienced such behavior towards her before, she found it pretty scary at the same time, but it kind of fit her view of this barbarous world. "The problem is", she stated much more calmly than just a second before, though she was still sniffing, "that you automatically assume your wonderful gods are in the right. You, just like your professor, absolutely fail to see how what they did could possibly be wrong. For you, who has lived so long in this world, people suddenly getting forced into this life are a normal occurence. You obviously can not tell a crime from a blessing anymore, for these crimes have been around you for too long. I have no idea if you have been brainwashed or if getting abducted has been such a great thing for you that you can't imagine people despairing about it, but I don't even think I care. In the end, I stand by my opinion that these world and obviously all its inhabitants, are absolutely insane. If by nature, by choice or driven to it by its gods, I do not know. It was not meant as an insult and it also was not directed at you alone, but at everything and everyone in this place and it was, in my eyes, just a simple fact being stated."
Sofia looked around and spotted a stone that looked at least halfway clean. Arranging her dress around her, she sat down. "I, unlike your gods who so obviously know everything about everyone, am not a mind-reader. I had no idea your intention was to meet with the professor. Instead, I thought you were just travelling by with the next town as your destination, so I did not see it as 'going out of your way' to let me accompany you. Very well, I shall remain here and you can go and meet that woman. We have not gone far, after all, it should be a walk of mere minutes to get back to the laboratory." While she was grateful that Kage allowed her to travel with him for the time being, the last thing she wanted was to be too deeply indebted to someone who obviously worshiped these gods. It was kind of him to help her even though she had no method of paying him right now, but she had the feeling that he might end up demanding that she should be grateful that the gods sent him along to help her or anything of that sort. Seeing how weird and insane everyone was, she wouldn't put it past him.

My, wasn't she a wordy one? Kage, after hearing a mountain of things he already heard in one form or another from Sofia's mouth, shook his head. "Insane, you say? Have it as will, but it is an insult, my dear, no matter if you say it isn't supposed to be. What if I went around calling you a spoiled, selfish pompous with no manners at all? I'm very sure you wouldn't like it," he countered. He wouldn't call her such things, but he said this to get his point across. "This is just reality and those of us that find ourselves in it? We deal with it, with much less complaining about it and with much less judging someone before we really get to know them. Even if we don't see eye to eye, I've been willing to help you and to try to over look our differences in opinion, but enough is enough. When I say that maybe your eyes need to open, I mean it in that because you have become incredibly rude towards me simply for helping you and I doubt that you once even thought twice about your words. If it's normal in your world to be rude and offend someone helpful, then I would have to say that your world is the one entirely messed up."
"Now, pardon me." Kage bowed once more, as he did when they met, only leaving her to sit on her rock, nearly the same way that he had found her. He didn't turn and return to the laboratory, either, he merely kept walking on their intended course. If she wanted to stay where she was now, so be it. He could only take so many offensive things at once.
