Adian had followed the map that the professor had given him. It showed clearly how he had to proceed in his new journey. He was to go straight for about two miles until he ran into a wall of trees. This would be the entrance to the Mystic Forest. It was the first of many places Adian needed to go to meet with the champions, and as such, he had no trouble leaving with all due haste.
Unfortunately, the unseen forces of nature hadn't agreed with him. By the time Adian had reached the forest's edge, it was already a down pour. Everything Adian had was soaked. At least it was a semi-warm rain, Adian tried to console himself. In fact, it wasn't. It had been a rather warm day, but not warm enough for the rain to be pleasant.
It was so unfair! Adian didn't even have a chance to greet his new Charmander. He knew it was unfair to keep the pokemon waiting inside his ball, but it was also completely unfair to throw him out in horrible weather. "Pah, well at least these trees will help keep the rain off me." Adian said with a nod as he walked onto a well-worn path into the forest.

As Adian pushed his way into the dense forest, the rain seemed to pour harder. It penetrated through the thick coverage of leaves and fell in large drops. Adian moved a wet strand of red hair from his face and sighed. "I hate rain." He announced to no one in particular. "I wish it'd just... go away or something."
As if in answer, a crack of thunder almost overhead sent Adian jumping for cover under a large tree. Of course he knew a tree was a horrible place to hide in a storm. Still, instincts are instincts. Adian looked about gloomily, there wasn't a pokemon in site and there didn't appear to be any form of shelter either. "Guess I can't just wait this out." Adian said, as a thunder rolled thru the air. "Just gotta keep movin', that is what I'll do."

Adian continued onwards, trying to ignore the pounding rain. The whole forest was dark at this point. What little sunlight managed to sneak in past the thick foliage was hidden behind angry storm clouds. It gave the whole forest a rather eerie look. It wouldn't have been so bad if Adian was able to keep a pokemon with him, but he wasn't not up to subjecting Charmander to the rain.
It was then that he saw a faint light up ahead. Adian blinked twice, assuming it was just another flash of lightening. When it hadn't gone away, Adian became curious. Only one way to find out what the light was, he decided. He headed straight towards it, ignoring the fact that he completely left the path.
When he got to the clearing, Adian saw a strange pokemon dancing on a fallen log. It appeared as if the pokemon itself was giving off the warm light. Adian watched, somewhat mystified at what was before him. 'This region is full of strange pokemon.' He thought.
As if the pokemon had heard his thoughts, it turned towards the half covered red-head. "Mawh!" It said, rather angrily as if to protest being 'strange.'
"Eeep!" Adian said, ducking under what little cover he could make of the drenched bush. The strange colored Mawhile walked over to Adian and tapped his head with a small arm. "Um, hello?" Adian said, completely unsure of what to do.
The Mawhile stood there, looking expectantly at Adian. All he could do was manage a shrug. "Can I help you?" He asked, putting on a smile. The fairy pokemon let out a dramatic sigh and danced over towards Adian's belt. He picked up an empty pokeball and tossed it at the trainer. "You want to play catch?" Adian asked.
At this point, the Mawhile let out an even bigger sigh. The pokemon looked mad. "Maaw, mawhile maw maa." It explained carefully, as if Adian could understand.
"You want to... keep my pokeball?" Adian asked, dismayed.
With a quick shake of it's head, the Mawhile knocked Adian over with it's giant horn. He landed in a muddy puddle. "Hey, what was that for?"
The Mawhile picked up the dropped pokeball and tapped it on it's head. With a flash of red light, the pokemon was gone and the ball rocked back and forth once before making a chirping noise. "Oh." Adian said, dumbfounded by what just happened.
He picked himself up and continued on into the forest, trying to make sense of the events that had just unfolded.
