Torch stumbled backwards as the light started coming straight for him. Unsure of what it's intentions were, the Charmander took a slightly defensive pose. He didn't really like the idea of talking to someone or something he couldn't really see. Unless, of course, all it was was a ghostly light. Were there really ghosts in these forests?
His thought was broken as it called out it's own hello. He glanced back at the girls. Flutter had rustled a bit and turned from under the blanket, but it seemed they still hadn't been woken up... He turned back to the strange light and slowly raised a claw to wave. "Oh, so there is someone out here. Well, hi! I'm Torch!", he smiled, doing his best to keep it below a roar. "Who are you? What are you doing? Are you lost?" Torch loved to bombard people with questions, even if they just appeared to be a light; heck, he'd talk to anything that would talk back, really.

"Nay. I am not lost. Are you?" the voice spoke in return, tossing out a question of its own. The voice appeared to belong to the set of lights and, when it spoke, a fourth light joined the group, only to vanish again when no words were being said. It was then that the lights grew so close that it could be seen that there was a more definite shape than just a bunch of lights. In fact, whatever it was, it looked like a floating pumpkin! Wait! Was that... a Koffing? It floated closer and closer, so that it was no longer hidden the trees, but rather close to the Charmander and its sleeping companions. When it looked to everyone asleep, it looked back toward the fire Pokemon with some alarm. "Oh. I beg your pardon," it replied, its voice much softer now so as not to disturb anyone in dream land. "I didn't realize anyone was sleeping here."

He listened curiously as the voice answered. It asked a good question. Were they? I mean, they knew where they wanted to go, but were they indeed going the right way? He had to think about that...
Then when the Poison Gas Pokemon came to light, Torch nearly fell back in surprise. It was orange! And a blinding orange at that! He had never seen such a Pokemon like this; the color was what threw him off. A closer look told him that it was a Koffing... well, he thought it was. There were orange Koffing? An image of a Halloween pumpkin came to mind almost instantly, and made him chuckle softly.
Torch then realized how close the Koffing had come and stepped back a bit, placing himself defensively between it and the sleeping girls. Though he liked the idea of randomly conversing with other Pokemon, he wouldn't allow harm to come to his new Trainer and friends. He glanced back as Nikki rolled over with a grumble, then faced the Koffing again with a polite smile. "Yes, we made camp here to wait for daylight.", he quietly informed the orange Koffing. "And we're not lost. Well...", he paused, "Actually, we might be. You see, we're trying to find this town on the other side of this forest. You wouldn't happen to know of a path or something would you?"
This Koffing didn't seem hostile. Maybe it could help them at the very least. Not that they could navigate through this darkness, but any information on a way out of here would be helpful for when the sun rose.

The Koffing didn't fail to notice Torch's actions when he put himself between it and those that were sleeping. The Charmander was being defensive of its trainer and the other Pokemon, so it choose to float back just a bit, trying to show that it intended not to harm them.
"I do know of the town, yes," it replied. Just then, it shot off a burst of smoke from one of its many pores, in one direction, this being its way of telling Torch in which direction it believed the town lied. "I believe it can be found in that direction, though there is no real path, I'm afraid. Not that I know of, anyway. My apologies for not being of any better help."

He let his guard drop slowly as the orange Koffing seemed to understand his defensiveness and backed off a bit. Torch's eyes lit up hopefully when it mentioned knowing of the town, and even more so when it proceeded to provide a direction.
"That way, is it?", he asked, letting his eyes trail off into the dark direction the smoke cloud had billowed in. He was a bit worried that there wouldn't be a marked path for them to follow, as the Koffing had pointed out, but at least now they had a general direction in which to travel in. It was better than wondering aimlessly for hours or even days, right? Yes. It definitely was.
He turned back to the pumpkin of a Koffing and smiled thankfully. "Thank you for that helpful little piece of info. It's sure to help us get out of this forest quickly. I don't think Nikki likes it here very much."[/color], he said as he gestured back at the snoring sixteen year old.

The Koffing nodded, a process which required it to move its entire body. "You're very much welcome. I am sure it is absolutely dreadful to be lost in here, especially for a human that doesn't know their way around." Humans, at least ones that were not already accustomed to long journeys, were not nearly as durable as Pokemon were. "I hope that you and your companions are able to find your way out well enough."
For a moment, the Koffing glanced over to the sleeping teen, and he sighed. "I must admit, I came out here in a hunt to find a trainer of my own. The first one a ran into, though, she was an awful sort. She and her Squirtle insisted on attacking me while all I wished to do was offer my advice to them." It was quite tragic for the poor thing. Perhaps not many trainers wished to have a Koffing? Sadly, the poison Pokemon couldn't help what it was born as.

Torch tilted his head with a slight frown at the poor Koffing as it spoke. It's hunt for a trainer didn't seem to be going well. This Koffing was so nice, and different as well. He couldn't believe such a Pokemon would have such a hard time finding a good trainer. From his experience, though what little it was when it came to trainers, different Pokemon were highly sought after. What did they call them again ... shiny? But maybe this one wasn't in that category...
"Well, I bet my trainer would love to have you join the team!", he exclaimed, not even trying to be quiet now. The noise stirred the two behind him, though apparently not enough to wake them. "Want me to go wake her and see?" Though, not waiting for much of an answer, the excited Charmander ran back to Nikki and leaning onto her, slowly began to shake her arm. "Nikki? Hey! Nikki?"
The rocking soon broke Nikki's sleep and her eyes opened slightly. With a deep inhale and tired stretch, the girl rolled over and stared at Torch with groggy eyes. "Hm, what? Oh Torch ... what's going on?", she asked softly, still partly asleep and unaware of the new Pokemon in their presence.

[ Gah, vanished there for a while. Dx; ]
The commotion also woke Flutter up, who raised her head and looked around, dazed. Torch moved a bit closer and got up into Nikki's face. "Hey! Sorry to wake you but ..." His words faded out into a whisper as he threw a glance back towards the Koffing.
It was then that Nikki noticed a brightly floating object behind Torch. She blinked a few times, unsure of just what exactly she was seeing. In her half-asleep daze, her mind got the better of her and she let out a loud squeal. "AHHHH! GHOST!" In a panic, she jerked upright, throwing the blanket over top both her Pokemon which in turn sent them into a mini panic as well as they fought with the cover.
"W-who, what?!", the poor girl choked out as she scrambled backwards away from the accused ghost. She was right to freak out, wasn't she? I mean, ghosts were real, yes? And what else could be roaming out in a dark forest but a ghost?

The Koffing would have been delighted should the Charmander's trainer want it to join her, however, the poison Pokemon couldn't prevent itself from frowning when Torch began to wake the sleeping human. The wild Pokemon actually felt guilty for being one to disturb her sleep, though it was unable to say anything against it, as Nikki had already been awakened almost instantly.
Instead of saying anything, it decided to watch and observe, but that didn't go over too well either. Before it knew what was going on, the trainer was screaming about ghosts. It took the Koffing only a moment to make sense of why she was reacting this way. She was afraid afraid of it, or so it believed. For this reason, the Koffing began to float backward, away from Torch, Flutter and Nikki.
"I-I'm sorry," it uttered, sounding unsure of itself. If this trainer was afraid of it, then all hope seemed lost.

"What? No!", Torch called out blindly as he heard Nikki yelling. He managed to get out from under the cover and threw his hands up in protest. "There's no ghost!"
By then, Nikki had gotten to her feet and looked ready to run, though it probably wouldn't have done much good. She looked at the Koffing, then to Torch, and back to the Koffing. She relaxed a bit and let her eyes come to focus better. "Oh? ...Oh! Is that a ... Koffing?" "Yeah! It's not mean! Don't be afraid!", he said, trying to take up for the poor Poison Gas Pokemon.
When the Koffing apologized, it made Nikki feel not only bad for shouting at it, but made her embarrassed of how she'd acted. "Oh dear, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you or anything!", she apologized with a red face. "I was a little shocked by your ... unusual appearance." More or less, she was referring to the Pokemon's color. She was beginning to wonder if all Pokemon in this forest were of unusual colors.
"Um ... some help please?", a small voice called out from under the blanket. "Hm? Oh! Flutter!" Nikki rushed over to the Caterpie and fished her out from under the cover. Craddling her in her arms, Nikki pat her on the head apologetically.

[Just a quick question, if I may: Was my Caterpie one of the Pokemon that escaped from the Muse Laboratory?]
As things began to calm down, Nikki looked at the Koffing curiously. "I've never seen an orange Koffing before... Are many Pokemon in this region oddly colored so?", she asked, genuinely perplexed.
Torch, on the other hand, wasn't too concerned about the odd Pokemon. "Hey Nikki! I think this Koffing has something to ask you." Nikki glanced at her companion with a confused face. "Oh? Well, I'm all ears." She was a bit unsure of what had happened while she was alseep and hoped that Torch hadn't done anything to cross the poor Pokemon.
Torch smiled and looked at the Koffing expectedly. Hopefully he hadn't put it in an awkward position. If it was too shy to ask, he would be more than happy to take it upon himself! He felt Nikki would have no objections.

The Koffing watched everything unfold, though it dared not to float any closer to the trainer, fearful that it might somehow startled her once again. It felt pity for the small Caterpie that was stuffed under the blanket during all of the commotion, though it felt some embarrassment that its own coloration seemed to be the trouble in every that happened.
"I suspect that you could say many, as there are a great more unusual colorations here than any other region, or so I have heard. I escaped from a laboratory where Pokemon are genetically altered in such a fashion." It sounded far more painful than it was. In fact, he could not recall any pain in the process of becoming such an odd Pokemon.
It was fine to speak, until Torch mentioned that the Koffing held a question for the trainer. If the gas Pokemon had been able to blush, it probably would have. "I... I have been searching for a trainer," it admitted, slowly. "If you would be willing to take me in, I would be...grateful."
[Yes, your Caterpie is also one of the Muse Laboratory Pokemon.]

The young trainer's eyes shone with interest as she listened to the Koffing. The Trilotics was mysterious. It was certainly the only region she had heard of that dabbled in genetically altering Pokemon. "Oh my! That sounds ... horrible.", she said with a frown.
"I'll say! Why would they do that?!", Torch chimed in, clearly surprised of such activities.
Flutter wriggled a bit in response to her trainer. She could relate for shehad been lucky enough to escape the horrid lab as well, though she had never said so. Unlike the Koffing, the Caterpie could recall some pain that accompanied the complicated procedures.
"It's nice to see that others managed to get away as well.", she spoke softly, causing all eyes to focus on her. "I don't know about the others but ... I'd love to have you join the team! The more help we have, the easier the journey will be." Those last words could serve as helpful advice for the new trainer, as it had some truth behind it.
Nikki looked at Torch, who's smile said it all to her. "It's anonymous then. We'd love to have you aboard!" Nikki exclaimed happily, offering a smile of her own. It was clear that the Koffing could find a welcoming home among them all. Having a bit of a Deja Vu moment, Nikki quickly retrieved a Pokeball from her bag. She held it out in a welcoming fashion toward the Koffing. "Let's make it official."

The Koffing's face lit up with happiness as the trainer and the other Pokemon agreed to welcome it, it's mouth forming a huge smile and a bright yellow light emitting from within it's opened mouth. The instant that Nikki held out the Pokeball, the strange looking Koffing hovered closer, awkwardly bonking into the red and white sphere. As was usual, the Pokemon disappeared inside a red light upon the instant of impact with the ball.
With the Koffing safely secured inside, the ball didn't even rock. The wild Pokemon was captured instantly.
Congratulations! Nikki caught a Koffing!

Nikki couldn't help but flinch as the Pokeball snatched up the Koffing with it's extreme speed, but she rejoiced afterward when it was clear the deal was made. The Pokeball didn't even rock, much to her surprise. Though that was a good thing. Catching Pokemon without having to battle them first was certainly a good feeling for the girl.
"Neat! You've caught another Pokemon." Torch followed Nikki curiously as she returned to the bag and went to put the Pokeball back inside.
"Wait ... you're not going to let him out?", the Charmander asked curiously. Flutter also looked at Nikki with question. Nikki offered a smile and shook her head. "No, not yet. I hope you don't think it rude of me. But we can talk more in the morning.", she spoke softly into the Pokeball, hoping her message was heard. She gently placed the Pokeball back into a corner of the bag and laid back down. By now, her adrenaline had gone and the tiredness had crept back in and she was more tired now than ever. "Let's try to get some more sleep. We'll start off first thing in the morning." She grabbed the blanket and threw it over herself as she nudged against the bag.
Torch frowned, much too awake now to even think about sleep. But as he watched Flutter cuddle up next to Nikki once more, he decided against arguing. He joined the group and made himself comfortable. Hopefully daylight would come quickly...
