"Would you like to place it?" The Shroomish asked, seeing that Torch clearly admired the little rock that it carried. It held it out for the fire Pokemon to take, happy to be sharing their likeness for their hobby with their guests.
The Bulbasaur and the Oddish had gathered close together while the other grass Pokemon had been speaking, and the began to exchange whispers so that no one else could hear them. The Shroomish had been too busy to notice their antics, so when the young bulb Pokemon spoke up, he actually ended up dropping the rock in surprise.
"Nikki, wont you let Mister Shroomish go with you?" It asked, tilting its head slightly. "He once told us that he...that he ran away from a laboratory," the Oddish added, only to have the Bulbasaur finish up again when it stammered. "And that people are looking for him, to take him back but, if he gets a trainer, then they can't take him back and he can be happy."

"Oh, could I?!", the little Charmander squealed with childish delight. It was amusing that he could find joy in the smallest of things. He went to take the rock but jumped as the Shroomish let it fall to the ground. Nikki, who by now had settled down comfortably on her knees next to the small garden, looked up in surprise at the request. Gaze flickering from the Oddish to the Bulbasaur and then to the Shroomish, she finally looked at Torch with a tilt of her head.
"A laboratory?" "Oh please, Nikki? I'd like more company to talk to!" Nikki thought about it then smiled reassuringly with a nod. From the sound of it, the poor thing just might be better off with her. The words 'ran away' and then mention of 'take him back' gave her an uneasy feeling about this laboratory place. So she would gladly accept the Shroomish into her team, if it so did choose to follow her. "It wouldn't bother me at all to have him tag along. If you want to, of course.", she added quickly, looking at the Shroomish with a soft smile.

The Shroomish still appeared to be in shock that the other two Pokemon decided to speak up for it. It was true, he had wanted to find a trainer in order to avoid going back to the genetic laboratory. He remembered that he didn't look like this, originally, or had that all been a dream?
"My apologies..." he said, staring at the rock that he had dropped while he gathered up his thoughts. His eyes lifted to look between Torch, Nikki and the two grass Pokemon that he had been watching over. "Are you sure you'll be all right without me?" he asked them, unsure.
"Of course we will!" The Bulbasaur replied without hesitation, but it was the Oddish that said it more delicately. "We will be okay, if you're okay. We don't want you to go back to a laboratory, but you should be okay with Nikki." The girl seemed nice, after all, despite how timid the Oddish normally was.
"Well, I suppose that settles it then," the uniquely colored Pokemon concluded. "I would love to join you."

A sad smile replaced the trainer's previous smile as she watched the Shroomish express it's concerns for it's two companions. She was sad that it would have to leave it's friends to come with her, but at the same time she was unsure how the other two felt about having a trainer. Best not to ask. She imagined that most Pokemon liked nothing better than to be free to live how they wanted in this strange, new world. And that was fine by her.
Picking up the fallen rock and placing it in a more visually pleasing location beside the garden, Torch looked at the Shroomish with a wide grin. "Sweet! Don't worry fellow, Nikki is a good person! I like her and I'm sure you will too!" Though it was probably hard to take the word of a Charmander like Torch, hopefully the Shroomish could find a peaceful existance in this young trainer's care. She wasn't the most experienced, no, but her heart was in the right place.
She chuckled with a blush. "Welcome aboard, dear Shroomish~" Getting to her feet, the girl was a bit awkward in finding a proper Pokeball to house her new friend. But she found one none the less and held it out timidly towards the unusual grass Pokemon. Then with a quick push of the button, she watched the small red beam of light shoot out and envelop the Pokemon.
