Yawning, Sleet looked up at the starry sky. Beside her, Squirtle was fast asleep, occasionally going in and out of her shell. She was so sweet, but there was still that hollow spot inside of her, longing for Glaceon. Glaceon this, Glaceon that, she was all Sleet could think of. "No, I have to focus. Squirtle is my partner for now. We can do this."

"Heya Squirt. You doing okay?" Sleet asked, smiling. Hopping up, she looked around. There were trees everywhere, but it was the perfect training ground. The low branches were perfect for pull ups, and the logs could be used as hurdles. She sure as heck wasn't planning on letting herself go, and although it made Squirt look cute, she was beginning to look tubby. "Come on, let's go and see what we can do today."

Squirt smiled at her partner, and decided to talk. "I like the name Squirt. But you don't seem like you like me. Am I not who you want?" Still, the little Pokemon smiled, and got up. Sleet had hopped up and was hanging by her knees as Squirt said that. It shocked her at first, not that she could understand the little Squirtle, that was normal, but that it seemed to realize that Sleet didn't keep her at the center of her heart, but Glaceon. Sighing, she flipped, and landed.

"I knew it. You were brought here, and you had another partner before this. But I know that you'll still keep me, right? Squirt was so naive that it made her laugh. Picking her up, Sleet laughed. "Of course. And I bet that you and Glaceon, my other partner, would get along great." She smiled at the thought, imagining the two playing together.

That was a relief. Looking around, Squirt had an idea. "Hey, how about we set up a little camp. We should see if there are any others around that we could get to join our team. I'm sure that we could convince them. Since we'd need a lot of help to get to the Shrine safely." Now that interested Sleet. "What Shrine? I've heard of it, but what's the point in going there. We don't have anyone to worship." Of course, setting up a camp was a good idea. Maybe some of the stuff in the bag that Gardevoir at the Lab gave them might be of use. It certainly was heavy enough to have some things in it they could use.

Little did Sleet and Squirt know, but someone, rather something, was awfully close to them. It had been there much of the time, hidden almost in plain sight among the trees. Suddenly, a voice sounded, "The legendaries deserve worship. They give us everything." At that instant, something that looked like a...a floating pumpkin hovered down from the trees. But it was...smiling. It wasn't a pumpkin at all! It was a Koffing that looked like a pumpkin! How very odd!

"Aaah!" they both screamed at the same time. Pidgeys and HootHoots went flying out from the trees at the sound. Sleet turned and looked at Squirt. The little Pokemon nodded, apparently understanding her silent command. Going up, Squirt prepared herself, than, as cutely as possible, began to dance and shake its tale. Smiling, she looked innocently up at the strange Koffing, hoping her tail whip would lower its wariness, and make it easier to attack.

"My, how rude!" The Koffing responded as the Squirtle began to dance and shake her tail in its direction. "You know that it is very impolite to shake your rear at someone you've just met!" Apparently, the Koffing had not intended to attack either of them and found that its being attacked so suddenly was quite offensive. Perhaps other Pokemon would want to do some harm, but it had only come down to answer Sleet's question about the shrine and who to worship.
Squirt's move is not effective!

Sleet swore under her breath. "Don't worry. This just means he's smarter than average... Try tackle. And give it all you've got. Don't be afraid, you can do it. Ya have to believe." Smiling, she urged Squirt on. "That's it. You're going to get it now you funny colored Koffing." Squirt said nervously. Than, he charged.

The unusual-looking Koffing swerved out of the way just in time to avoid the water Pokemon's attack. Once it was home free, its eyes had narrowed dangerously. "You insolent little brat! The both of you!" it spat, growing angry at the Pokemorph and her Pokemon. "Have you no sense!?" At this point, the Koffing opened up its mouth and spewed out a wave of Poisonous Gas in warning and, while it impaired their ability to see it, it vanished back into the tree tops.
Wild Koffing has fled.

"Don't worry it Squirt. You'll do better next time. I think he must have been inhaling some potions or something, that crazy Koffing..." Now that made them both laugh until they were on the ground panting. "Hey, Sleet. Before that Koffing came, weren't we about to set up a camp? "Oh yeah, you right. Let's see what's in here." she said, slinging off her pack. Inside were a few blankets, food, some Poke, and potions. "Hey, you know how I asked you to use tackle? Well, see those tree branches? Do you think you could break them off using tackle. I'm sure they'd be useful for making a big lean-to." Shaking her head in agreement, Squirt charged at the branch, and snapped it clean off. After they had a nice pile, Sleet set to work, while Squirt kept guard. It took a while, but they ended up with a pretty big lean-to. It was built up against a few trees, and inside, she spread the blanket out, and used the extras as pillows. "Come on in." Sleet said cheerfully. The little Pokemon waddled in, and sat down on the padded ground. Almost instantly though, she fell asleep. "Aaw, poor thing." Sleet mumbled. Squirt couldn't have been very experienced, and having worked so hard, she had to have been on the verge of fainting. Taking off her bands, Sleet curled up beside Squirt, wrapping her own tail around the little Pokemon.

She couldn't really tell what time it was exactly, since she didn't have her poke'gear, but judging by the sun, Sleet decided that it was time to get up. She and Squirt, besides that one event with the Koffing, hadn't done much. But today, there were going to go and see what else was in the forest. That was a peculiar looking Koffing, and she wanted to know if there were any others like it. Squirt was right, if she wanted to get to the Shrine, she would have to build a team. One that could stand up to the journey and its challenges. She's been all across Sinnoh, Kanto, and Johto. She was actually about to stop at the Hoenn region right before she was plopped down in Trilotics. Yeah, she didn't really go in order, like most trainers, but then again, she wasn't most trainers. Most trainers didn't start out with a Glaceon as their starter, most trainers didn't get plopped down in random places. She certainly wasn't average. But then again, she didn't want to be anything but what she was.

"Huh? What's up?" Squirt said. "Oh, ya wanna go explore, don't ya?" "Yeah... You know me pretty well already, don't ya." Smiling at her partner, they both got up. The bright sun made them both squint as they emerged from their dimly lit shelter. "Hey, wanna eat something first?" Sleet asked as she pulled out a small container of Poke'food labeled 'Squirtle'. "Here ya go hun." Setting it down in front her, Sleet pulled out her own food. It was a bit cold, but that didn't matter to her. It tasted great, and did miracles for her empty stomach. Once they had both finished, she cleaned up the small meal's leftovers, and put the containers back in the bag. Perhaps there would be some berries one the nearby plants that they could get. "Ready to go?"

Nodding her head, Squirt hopped up. Following Sleet, she looked around. The trees made a roof over their heads, and the sunshine was barely able to shine through, making it harder to see. "Stick with me..." Sleet murmered. There was no telling what could be hiding in these shadows, which meant that they would really need to be careful.

"Anyone out there?" Sleet asked. She knew that there were some Poke'mon out there, and they would understand her. But this time, perhaps there would be some that they could get to join there team, without causing them to run away like that cowardly little Koffing. Of course, Koffing were known for such acts. That was a wasted battle. She just hoped that there luck would be better next time.
