"Sleet... This is kinda weird. Shouldn't there be some other Poke'mon around here or something?" Squirt asked nervously. Something wasn't right. The only Poke'mon that they'd encountered was that one crazy Koffing... "I don't think anything's up. We probably scared some of the others off. Don't worry, we'll see what happens." Smiling at the little Squirtle, they continued on.

The longer the two walked, the more uncomfotable Sleet became. "Maybe you are right... We probably should've encountered something by now. Who know though. We shouldn't get worked up over nothing." Breathing deeply, she wondered if there were any others exploring out here. There had to be... Right?

There didn't seem to be any Pokemon around, at least there wasn't anything making any noise to suggest that one was near by. There was, however, one younger tree among many of the adult trees that looked a little odd. If one took the time to actually look, there was a deep red zig-zag of a stripe on the little tree. It almost looked like dried blood, but trees couldn't bleed, nor would blood appear in such a pattern.

Of course, Sleet, having trained many years with her sisters in both an ice, fighting, and psychic gym, wasn't one to pass over such details. She was extremely disciplined, observant to the fullest extent. Perhaps that was the reason others tended to avoid her. She analyzed things down to the last piece, even people and their emotions. Shaking her depressed thoughts off, she looked around, and something came into the corner of her eye. Walking over, she examined the mark. It did, in fact, appear to be blood, as if someone had performed a ritual of sorts near the spot. Something was definitely going on, that was certain. The question was what.

Aside from the strange marking on the tree, nothing else seemed at all out of order in the vicinity. Sleet could look around all she wanted, but wouldn't find anything else. When she seemed to not be looking, at least from the point of view of the strip, said stripe began to float away from the tree and off through the air in a hurry, as if it was running away.

"Sleet..." Squirtle said, inching closer to her trainer. "Sleet, it's moving away. Should I chase it?" Sleet whipped around at the comment, suddenly intrigued. Squirt was right. The mark on the tree was running away from them, scared. "A ghastly, perhaps?" she said to her partner. She wasn't a fan of those buggers, she never had got along with them anyway. "Nah, just leave it. We should get going. I think it's only a few more miles until the exit, judging by the scarceness of Poke'mon. They'd be scared off by trainers entering and exiting there, and the town being so close. Don't worry. We'll get out of here and into a place that's worth training in." She smiled, and started off.

It was a funny sight, seeing the two running together. It had gotten extremely cold, and Sleet wasn't going to risk her or Squirtle freezing. And what better way than running to their destination? They were a ways away from the Poke Center, and the lab was already to far back. At least she still had the blankets that the Pikachu had included in her bag. Thinking of it, she slung the satchel off and set it on the ground. She had gotten to the food, and hadn't stopped to see if there was anything else in there. Taking the containers that still had food in them, she removed the blankets, and peered inside.

To her surprise, there was 2000 Poke, some Poke'balls, a quick claw, and two potions. Those were the only trainer related things. Along with those there were some blankets, a few bottles of water, and a snow boarding cap. Amazing... she thought. Silently thanking Maevia, she packed everything back into the satchel, and slung it onto her back. She turned around, but Squirt wasn't anywhere to be found. This worried her at first, but she got up, and started looking around for the small Squirtle. She knew that it could look out for itself, but the sooner she found her, the better.

While Sleet had been looking in her satchel, something had caught Squirtle's eye. A few yards away, there was some kind of red and white object hanging in a tree. Deciding that it wouldn't matter if she was away for a few minutes, Squirt went over to the tree that it was hanging in. Getting a much closer look at the item, she found that it was actually a Poke'ball! It wasn't a fancy Luxury ball or anything, but judging by the way it was shaking, there was something inside it. Just then she heard sleet looking for her, and called out. "I'm over here! And I think I found something, come over here!"

Sleet finally found her partner who, at the time, was jumping up and down trying to get a Poke'ball down from a high branch. How'd that get way up there? she thought, interested. If anything, it would be helpful to her for capturing others for her team. But, of course, there was one way to find out if it was occupied. She climbed up, grabbed the ball, and threw it down, unlocking the latch that kept it closed. Squirt, seeming to know what she was doing, stepped aside, and caught the ball. There was a flash, and suddenly an odd colored Eevee stood in front of her. Sleet hopped down, and carefully got down on her knees so not to disturb the Poke'mon in front of her. "Hey there little guy." she said sweetly, waiting for the other to react.

"Master?" he asked timidly before backing up quickly. "I... I wasn't slacking off... I promise!" he almost yelled. "I'm not your master... I found you up in a tree. You're okay, I promise." It looked up at Sleet, and then at Squirt. "O-o-o-oh. Sorry... My master would be really mean to me sometimes. But... I guess he left me. Will you leave me?" That did it. "Gwenn." Sleet said. "How about we name ya Gwenn. You can be part of my team. I'm new to this world to, we'll just work through it together. This is my other partner, Squirt." "Heya Gwenn. I'll call ya Gwenny." Squirt said excitedly. "O-o-okay. I like that." Gwen stuttered. It was official. Sleet had two new partners. "Okay then. Gwenn, we've been trying to get out of here. Would you happen to know where the exit is?"

"Well... I-I... I sorta do, since my old master was really close, but we got stuck and met a Beedrill, and when I fainted after a single hit, he got really mad. He kicked me, and then he just walked off. He came back later with my Pokeball, and just returned me. Of course, after a while..." he hesitated before continuing, "I figured that he wasn't ever going to be coming back, and I started trying to get someone's attention." After listening to the poor Eevee's story, Sleet was on the verge of tears, which was quite unlike her. "Aw, Gwenn, it's okay." the Pokemorph said, reaching her hand out to comfort the little Pokemon. But the minute that she saw the hand coming, Gwenn immediately backed up, whimpering in fear. Damn, that lowlife boy must've really messed up this poor thing... she thought to herself. "Hey, it's okay..." [/b] Squirt piped up, realizing how odd the situation was becoming.[/center]

The forest had gone quiet for some time, as if also listening to the sad story that the Eevee told. Even the wind had died down around them. In a way, the soundless forest seemed almost ominous. The silence, however, was eventually broken with a screech in the distance.

Sleet's icey ears perked up, as did Quinlan's at the sudden noise. "Sounded like one of the local bird Pokemon, don'tcha think?" Squirt asked, wondering if the source was okay. She couldn't be sure, but it almost sounded like a painful cry.
"I don't know, but I'd like to try and find out. Perhaps, if we're lucky-" "-we'll even be able to get closer to the exit to this crazy forest." Gwenn finished for her. There was a moment of silence, due to the slight shock Sleet felt when her newest companion finished her sentence, much like Glacier, her Glaceon partner, would when they were still back in the Sinnoh region.
With the shake of her head, the young Pokemorph got to her feet, and looked at both of her partners. "Okay, Squirt, you've been out ever since Maevia brought us together. I'm gonna put you back in for a while, but be ready to come out if the creature who let out that call starts acting hostile. Got it?" With the nod of the young turtle Pokemon's head, Sleet pulled out the Pokeball, and with a flash of red light, Squirt was engulfed, and transferred back into the storage device.
"Gwenn, lead me there." Sleet said, smiling. With a confident nod of his own, the little Eevee set out with his nose to the ground, and his ears perked up, ready to show that he wouldn't fail this time around.

It seemed that Quinlan's tracking skills were something to be spoken of in likeness, because a Pokemon, nearly hidden among the brush, was found laying on the ground, unmoving. Without a doubt, it was a bird Pokemon that had called out, and it really did seem to be in pain. It was nothing more than an unconscious lump on the floor, appearing as though it had just been attacked, knocked out, and left there. A few of its tail feathers were pulled out laying on the ground around it.
